Lois (MRes Food Science, 2005-06)
My name is Lois Dan Kong. I’m from northeast China. I was brought up in a communist family, and to fulfil my family’s expectation, I joined the Communist Party when I was in university in China. But as the years passed by, I found this world so sinful. I used to consider myself different from others, but one thing after another made me realise I was just the same: proud, greedy, selfish and arrogant. Eventually I started to doubt my beliefs, and life became meaningless as my faith faded away. My soul was struggling to survive.
God knows everything. He soon arranged many events for me, drawing me closer and closer to Him. He generously offered me great opportunities to learn about Christianity and about Himself. His impact on me progressed rapidly. Last November, when my friend asked me: “So what’s still holding you back from being a Christian?” I couldn’t make any reasonable answer but my commitment.
Since then, my world view was completely changed. By God’s grace, I have found the true meaning of life and I have become more caring and willing to help. I can see the daily growth of faith in my heart, I can hear the Holy Spirit preaching to me in my mind, I can feel the warm flow circulate my body when I worship. I’m astonished more often at the beauty of nature; I even feel cheerful for no reason. I could never ever expect anyone else to have done this much for me. I feel so blessed.
